What's actually in your store bought almond milk?

Most store-bought milk is mostly water. Here's what your $5 carton actually contains.

Store-bought Almond Milk

Water 92%
Almonds 2%
Sugar & oils 4%
Stabilisers 2%

You're paying $3.50–$5.00/L for what is essentially flavoured water with less than a teaspoon of almonds per glass.

You're paying for water

At $5/L, you're paying premium prices for what's mostly tap water and a teaspoon of nuts.

Hidden additives

Gellan gum, sunflower lecithin, calcium carbonate, vitamin blends β€” all to mask the lack of real ingredients.

Shipped from far away

Your 'fresh' milk has spent weeks in trucks and warehouses before it hits your fridge.

Endless plastic & cardboard

A typical household burns through 50+ cartons a year β€” none of it cleanly recyclable.

From pantry to fresh milk in one cycle.

Use dry ingredients straight from the pantry. No soaking the night before. No straining. About 2 minutes of your time, and The Maker does the rest.

Frequently asked

How long does it take to make milk?

About 10 minutes after you press the button (8–12 minutes, depending on the program). No soaking needed. Use dry ingredients straight from the pantry.

Do I need filters, bags or accessories?

No. There are no filters, bags or pods to buy. A little fine pulp stays in the milk. If you like it extra silky, pour it through a strainer. The box has the machine only, so pour into any bottle you already own.

What's the warranty?

Every Maker comes with a 1-year warranty from the day it arrives. If something goes wrong, email us and we'll repair or replace it. Our support team is in Australia.

What if I don't like it?

You have 30 days to send it back for a full refund. Returns are free. Just email us and we'll send you a return label.

Does it work with all nuts and grains?

It works with almonds, cashews, oats, soy beans and more. There are 7 programs: Nut Milk, Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Paste, Juice & Smoothie, Hot Water and Keep Warm.

Does it actually self-clean?

Yes. Press Clean and it rinses itself in about two minutes, even under the blades. No bags to wash and nothing to take apart.

How much does it cost per litre at home?

Oat and soy milk cost a fraction of the carton price to make at home. Almond and cashew milk depend on what you pay for nuts. Use the calculator above to see your own numbers.
